A little poem about dreaming and believing in those dreams

Dream On

By Jack Ivey

Our dreams they come in patterns

Of night shade mysteries

In darkened rooms of full lit moons

On braided tapestries

Weaving through the questions

Flowing in our minds

Promises of what can be

Behind these shuttered blinds

Wondrous forms of fashion

Strange at times can be

Puzzles of a thousand pieces

Bound of destiny

Tied within our heart strings

Driving as the rain

Comfort of a precious sort

Enchantment to remain

Still we wait this moment

When our thoughts prepare

Scenic traits on different dates

Before our endless stare

So dream on fellow wanderer

Take this ship a’ flight

For somewhere true, dreams wait for you

To fall asleep tonight

To sleep, perchance to dream...I guess it all depends on what's rattling around in the old noggin's basement, eh? This is beautifully written, but show me one piece of yours that isn't and I'll eat my hat ;-) I am so pleased to be among the privileged who get to read your work, Jack, and you know I never blow smoke up anyone's skirt...I am truly honored to read you. Thank you so much for sharing this with us...with me.

Amen to that, thanks for sharing
This poetry has an effortless and enchanting rhyme and a soothing effect too. Dreams are a part of us and what is on our minds. They are a mystery and we hope that some of the beauty that we behold in our dreams touches us in real lives too.

Very eloquently written. Thanks for sharing.

Welcome Jack :)
Dreams are the true source of a writer, without those encrypted images how would we write or draw. Nice dedication to them.

Beautiful! I'm really enjoying your work. I haven't had a good dream in quite a long spell. If I do, I fear I may not want to wake. Written so eloquently, how could we not wish to stay in our dreams that bring us joy - even when they cannot be reality. Wonderful penning, Jack.

Thank you so much...I do dream, some good and some not and some really weird.
This is lovely, if only I could relate to that odd concept of sleep that eludes me...now you've made me even more envious of those who sleep and dream normally! It's an effortless read with beautiful notes throughout.
