A poet's love

Found within

I am just a poet as the words run through my veins

Nothing more at times is what it seems

Painting tiny pictures in the phrases that I write

In between the lines of open dreams

 

Digging deep inside my soul so I may bring to you

Happiness before you close your eyes

Hoping you will find these dreams are something we can share

Praying that your heart does realize

 

Early in the morning the reflections that I see

Staring back at me through panes of glass

Hoping that a smile comes reflecting back at me

Here beneath that shadows it does cast

 

What can fell these feelings of a lost and lonely soul

Branches dip in time now floating by

Tears can form a river in the vastness we have known

Standing on the shores alone to cry

 

Whispering a promise that does resonate the breeze

Cool and crisp upon my skin so bare

Oh to find the answers to the questions found to breathe

All of life the deed is hard to bear

 

Here amongst the fern with leaves which curve about the stem

Waving to the passing stars above

Fauna on the tender ground since time it hath begun

Patterns of a true unending love

 

When my time does dwindle and the light no longer shines

Feeble as the stance that I may show

Will you still be loving me alone in passing time

Bringing forth your smile so I may know

 

Dancing on a moonbeam of a golden tempting light

Lifting me if I should tend to fall

Living on in fantasies I swore that I would bring

Heeding to my faintest desperate call

 

Will you soon forget me on the winds of scattered mist

Blowing through in volumes on the hill

Or will you still remember me in thoughts that we are us

Even at a time I may lie still

 

Questions build a mountain in my mind of sifting thought

Dare I ask in fear of what I find

Clinging to the ledge above the valley floor below

Will I hear the echo you are mine

 

For you see

 

I am just a poet as the words run through my veins

Nothing more at times I know its true
