Staring up

Staring up

A Poem by Jack...
"

Oh the shapes we see

"

Staring up

By jack

We see ripples in the sky

Of rose bud hips and saffron pie

Mountains carved of blessings shown

On avenues that stand alone

Cotton threaded evenings stare

Spun with love and open air

Flowing near the velvet sun

Twisting candy coated fun

Elephants with diamond smiles

Kaleidoscopic crocodiles

Pirate ships with popcorn sails

Riding on the backs of whales

Trumpets in a soft embrace

A long forgotten laughing face

An evil wizard casting spells

Santa Claus with jingle bells

A locomotive full of steam

Floating down a soapy stream

Rocket ships in underwear

Grandma’s wooden rocking chair

A Ferris wheel of bursting glow

Atop a sled upon the snow

Once again the pictures change

As what we see is rearranged

So many different things we see

Lying here, just you and me

Far from all the noisy crowds

Staring up at floating clouds

Pointing out the shapes we find

Pictures formed within our minds

There’s nothing else I’d rather do

Than stare up at the clouds with you

My favourite memories with my mum are lying on a hill somewhere staring up at the cloads. The way you write, with such distinctive eloquent description... For a moment I was back there with her. I think writing a story that takes someone somewhere else, somewhere amazing takes a lot of skill. To do it with a poem is in my mind, nothing short of spectacular. You clearly have an incredible talent for this.

This is so fun & carefree ...high on clouds!

'Of rose bud hips and saffron pie'

Eating that line up...such an enjoyable read.
