Face down

Face down

A Poem by Jack...
"

Face down in the street as love parades by

"

Face down

Fragile, this existence,

love

parading by-

As days count and storm clouds rise...

Beneath me on the pavement

lie the shards

of what I once was, what could have been,

silenced,

as the crowd looks on

Vast collections of splintered feelings

tear at me,

rip my flesh,

purge my heart,

bringing the pain of dying gardens,

over run with weeds of intense sense and truth,

as these faces

grow wicked

Oh how these blooms stare

openly gawking, (perhaps smirking)

as I drop the shears to the ground,

where they stick

face down,

and soften asphalt swallows

Nurtured inward lies converge on me

My beliefs chase me,

laugh at me,

taunt me,

like a parade balloon fighting against the wind

The marching band stands still,

there is no music,

only the mocking of colorful floats

shedding memories

like pink tissue crafted flowers

to the street

They trample me,

And I thank them…

For this is me,

face down

I enjoyed how you've painted this picture of celebration and the colorful and happy aura of a parade, however the message is quite contrary. Almost as if being tortured by unknowing forces, things that don't know they are hurting you and you cannot find it to release yourself from the pain and overcome such tragedies. Although, despite all the pain and torment, you thank them, because of this maltreatment you have prospered much farther than they ever could. I think this is a beautifully composed balance of the good and the bad in a person. Bad qualities have good attributes, as well as good have bad. What a wonderful contradiction! Nicely done.

Yours truly, Delaney

So much emotion and power in your words... Amazing work.
Listen to the song "Nero" by Two Steps From Hell... It perfects this poem. Great work!! I enjoyed reading it. (:

Thanks so much my friend.
Should I tell you that I gasped and sighed simultaneously whilst reading this one, it grabs the heartstrings and gives a yank, yet so lovely in it's delivery. I can't say enough how utterly gorgeous your writing is, I'm running out of adjectives, this one is a favorite of mine, you've grown in the past few weeks within your own poetry, I didn't think it possible! I adore this one....x 100/100

Jack, leave it to you to capture the heart of the moment. I think this can be taken literal or from the point of view of objects. Flowers, Balloons, the area, it's all about the experience and what it does.

It's good to see you reaching beyond your comfort zone, you wear your poet's hat well.

Not exactly...guess again

You write eloquently of love - of romance and of joy - but you also write so well about 'the other side of it' the loss, the disappointment. This put a lump in my throat.

Thank you so much my sweet friend. Yes, unfortunately I have experience in that area too.
You never stop amazing me with your writing and ability to grasp your reader with an emotional hold that leaves a deep penetrating impression. I shouldn't be able to relate to this poem, but oh how I do and it just tugs at old wounds...

Incredibly moving write; I am not sure why but this one had me grasping my chest where my heart lives. The ache came profoundly into my psyche and touched a nerve, sending waves of sadness coursing through my spirit.
"Fragile this existence-love parading by."
Wow!
