Spinning

Spinning

A Poem by Jack...
"

Missing a lost love

"

Spinning

It is midnight

As I find the door closed…slammed

and shadows of what once was

disappearing down the drive

into the dreary nightscape so barren…as is my heart

It is 1:00 am

The fan… it hums,

affixed its ceilinged perch, spinning,

spitting a constant flow of sorrowed air

upon my unguarded skin…sifting my soul

It is 2:00 am

My eyes are open, wet… stained,

still staring at the spinning blades,

counting the blur of rotation,

finding it difficult to focus…on anything

It is 3:00 am

My mind is another place,

far from the undisturbed side of the bed,

monogrammed with your absence,

hand-stitched in loss and sadness

It is 4:00 am

I clutch your pillow,

inhaling your scent,

feeling the folds encase me

in down…which I feel, though not as soft

It is 5:00 am

The alarm clock startles me,

as my heart re- breaks…and

my eyes form their  tortured

river of tears, falling upon my already saturated place

It is 6:00 am (the sun is rising)

I miss you…desperately

While this is a nice poem (I especially like the use of time to divide the poem into sections) it does not help my own broken heart lol Thanks for sharing. Not sure if the last line is needed.

My pleasure...:)
Oh, insomnia and loss never sounded so torturous. You've captured those dark hours so well. My favorite stanza was this:

My mind is another place,

far from the undisturbed side of the bed,

monogrammed with your absence,

hand-stitched in loss and sadness

Thank you so much Blue. I always look forward to your comments.
..and how incredibly slow time passes, when time is the only thing that will help eventually. :( TL is right about those lines.

Thank you so much.
Such heartache and longing in this one. I like the break from tradition with the time flashes. It made me think of times when my husband travels. That sense of reaching for his pillow just so I can feel or smell something familiar....very well done.

Wow, this one is heartbreaking, Jack. Truly...this write is probably the most "real" and "honest" that I have read all day, and while it isn't all tied up in a pretty box with a bow on top, it is so starkly true and tangible that I felt it more deeply than anything else. Beautifully tragic...
