Just out for a drive with the one I love by my side

 

A Sunny Day

 

 

Sun filled skies ignite the fields in colorful array

of flowers growing ever tall, this summertime display

The beauty that does meet our eyes so comforts all we see

a Sunday drive, uncharted roads, together you and me

 

A softer breeze we shall not feel, the wind about our hair

on journeys off to anywhere that we two love to share

Scenery of heaven sent down every road we drive

your hand in mine, a favorite song, so glad that we’re alive

 

Majestic oaks, their leaves of green, create our solitude

so many years their world has been amongst the summer blooms

Blue sky dreams and butterflies, the magic that we find

tiger lilies line the country streets on which we wind

 

Love is our companion, constant, everywhere we go

precious is the feeling as we take in nature slow

On this early morning as the world does seem to shine

enjoying every moment with a true love that is mine

 

A summer day, the sun is bright and you are here with me

nothing in the scene can show more beauty than I see

When I look into your eyes, reflecting skies above

and feel the happiness they bring by showing me your love

 

We were meant to be right here, wherever this may be

hand in hand in nature's home feeling oh so free

Or anywhere that we may roam, whatever day does start

for destiny is in control as you are in my heart

The haze has built a bridge across the sky anchored solidly to the peaks of the mountains above me right now. The sun is but a memory glimpsed at in the ripples of the river and the glare of pick-up truck headlights.

I thought about it immediately after I posted it. I have a tendency to run off at the mouth with staggering bits of unprepared poetry. I must have been a freestyler in another life.

Ah indeed Jack, this summer's day could not have been depicted more beautifully, though I feel such is the strength of the love between you and your partner, even the coldest, dullest winter's day would still appear wondrous through your eyes!

You had me at tiger lilies. I used to sneak into a field and pick them for my grandma when I spent summers up in MI.

They would also grow wild where I grew up. I brought some tubers back a few years ago and now I have them in Texas every year. Thank you my friend.
