I play my guitar

I play my guitar

A Poem by Jack...

I play my guitar

I play my guitar,

crying in sevens

on a lonely cold morning

with the rain falling down

Sorrowful chords,

on the strings of emotion

in three quarter tear drops

where sadness is found

And the storm clouds they form

on the edge of tomorrow

with my thoughts ever yearning

for you in my arms

Now a chill finds my heart,

it is empty and hollow

I play my guitar

and there isn’t a sound

Thanks John. I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment
"And the storm clouds they form
on the edge of tomorrow
with my thoughts ever yearning
for you in my arms" Is this your deepest song, my friend?

Thank you so very much for your kind words.
You sure have got the blues today Jack and the sounds of your sadness resonate, in music and in silence, but when you've got a guitar you never alone! And that old guitar will never let you down, it's something you can fall back on

It's sitting right behind me Leigh. Thanks so much for stopping by
I felt this one Jack. Great structure in your concrete poem. Don't worry that music will return, I know it will. ; )

Jack You're The Guitar Man

You draws the crowd and plays so loud,
Jack you're the guitar man.
Who's gonna steal the show, you know
Jack you're the guitar man,

You can make us laugh, you can make us cry
You can bring us down, then you'll get us high
Somethin' keeps you goin', miles and miles a away
To find another piece to play.

Night after night who treats us right,
Jack you're the guitar man
Who's on the radio, we go listen
Jack you're the guitar man

Then you come to town, and we see your face,
And you think you might like to take our place
Somethin' keeps you driftin' miles and miles away
Searchin' for a songs to play.

Then we listen to the music and we like to sing along,
We want to get the meaning out of each and ev'ry song
Then we find ourselves a message and some words to call our own
And take them home.

Thank you Pryde, kind words from a really wonderful lady.
I love the way that you structured this one. Concrete poetry that tells us a story, and then you throw in the offset lines, which dig a little deeper into the soul. Haunting as the melody of a lone guitar...this piece is melodious.

Thanks so much Sarah. I always appreciate your kindness
Fills the reader with thoughts and feelings.
Sweet music is what it should be...
but silence it is.
