Something I wrote about when someone tries to live in a similar manner as the same person that they admired and he or she is no longer around.

My memories of you

They’re what keep me moving on

You were all I wanted to become

You were so strong

So full of confidence

So full of life

It didn’t seem like there was nothing you couldn’t do

 

There’s no telling what the future brings

But I will stand my ground

Like you would have done

 

I won’t let you down

I promise I’ll get stronger

Stand up for what I believe in

And protect the people that I care about

With courage and discipline I know I can do it

I’m the only one that can hold me down

I want to see a future with you smiling down on me

 

I wish we could have spent more time together

If I could have it my way

You’d be standing right beside me

Watching with me as the world changes

As we laugh with excitement

Looking forward to seeing the unknown

 

There’s no telling what the future brings

But I will stand my ground

Like you would have done

 

I’ve seen the world for what it is

It’s so cruel

So full of anger

So full of violence

And built on fear

 

I promise you I’ll change that

As you’re looking down on me

You’ll see how strong I will become

How much smarter I will get

All for the sake of making this world a better place than what you left it as

 

I’m going to live my life the way that I see fit

According to my own creed

Keeping my head held high with each rising of the sun

Just like you would have done
