Rose

Rose

A Poem by Matt Stewart

She is as a rose in the sunlight;

Elegant and beautiful yet soft to the touch.

The thorns she bears only adds to her beauty;

They draw you in, yet at once you hold your peace,

Afraid to gaze upon her lest you lose your senses.

She entangles you without force, as your eyes wander in her direction,

Wondering if you dare to cross the unknown; to lose your heart in the ocean of her soul.

This is a woman of whom the poets of old spoke,

Of whom the romantics deeply yearned;

She is the attainable, yet unattained,

Too magnificent to bear, too beautiful to ignore in all simplicity.

Do you dare to cross the line of indecision?

Do you dare to put your heart on the line all for the sake of love?

This is one of the many beauties of life; the magnificence of love and beauty.

Reach out to this damsel, for you may not see her again;

It’s a chance worth taking, a moment if you were to ignore, you would find to regret always.

Take your stand on the battlefield of your heart;

You may end up scarred, and so may she,

But to love and to be love, what ecstasy this is.
