Making Believe

Making Believe

A Poem by jaime

I am no good
at keeping a straight face,
or my laces straight.
I am good at tripping over things untied
and I am good at asking why
 I always land
on my feet.

I am no good
at wasting your time
or spending your dime.
But I am good at selling my thoughts
for a penny
or a smile and a nod
and I applaud each cent
of return.

I am no good
at making the change
in my head.
I am good at making my own bed
and I am good at sleeping
when I can
and I know how to add
negatives.

I am positively no good
at minding my mind.
And I have a good mind to start
at the top of my heart
and work down
the sleeve.
And I am good at making believe
stay true.
And I do.
