In Vegas

In Vegas

A Poem by Julie A Martin
"

Secrets we keep

"

The bright city lights of gambling and sin

Pale next to the quiet space in your ears

Where the secrets come in

When we talk in Vegas, no words are said

Surrounded by a fence of silence

Judgment suspended

As we speak in Vegas, the coins dropping into eager hands

The brightness of avarice blends and conceals

Our plots and plans, when we speak in Vegas

Dark doings in shadowy hallways

Ignorance is bliss

Always open, always closed

Your mouth smiles behind your empty eyes

Blocking the truth of another’s lies

Enabling the perception of nothing
