Silent Waves

Silent Waves

A Poem by jane kelley

Silent Waves

So silent are the whispers
as the waves trickle on the sand
remembering how the gulls flew
on the beach while we held hands

I can almost hear the echo
of those whispers from the deep
sighing with each crest
as onto the sand they seep

So sad the seagulls sing
as they watch the tide rush in
knowing that I'll be here
each night, alone again
