I cried today.
I cried because of the rain and with the rain and with the pain and with all the happiness it brought running over me. You've seen death. You've seen death and you've seen life rushing out to meet it like a best friend. You've seen death embracing life's feet, kissing the soles of it's master. Covering them with this rain and with this pain and with all the happiness they both have found. Religion hasn't always been in me but there's this verse this string of words I carry on my hip like a sword ready to fight this rain and this pain and this happiness too if I must. "There's a light that shines in the darkness," I say. And this I say because without it I couldn't see my way as it's laid out before me. Without the darkness I couldn't see that light or that rain or that pain or that happiness in any shade. "And the darkness will never overcome it," I pray. Because without the light I could never feel the darkness that scares the living s**t out of me but that also holds me and my dreams every night through the rain and the pain and the happiness I find in them. I smiled today. I smiled because I am able to spread my fingers and catch my life as it falls from the sky with this rain and with this pain and with this happiness. © 2014 jarmour |
