Dear God

Dear God

A Story by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster
"

Doom, God, Death, Experience, Life, Suffer

"
Dear God,
If I may, request of you to delay my release of this world until the tasks I have set are complete. I still have yet to truly love another and to lose their love. I still have yet to publish a collection of literature works in an epic proportion to be scrutinized and belittled. I still have yet to attend university to amass an insuperable debt. I still have yet to produce income to be invested in alcohol, gambling, and prostitutes. I still have yet to witness the birth of my child whose lungs fail within hours. I still have yet to grow old and wise just to lose my mind's grip. I still have yet to live and suffer. I hold life's uncertainty and trials more dear than an eternal paradise. So I ask, please postpone life's inevitable end and when that day comes to simply cease my existence. For what purpose would I have if there is no struggle?

Sincerely,
Kenneth Goodpaster

Struggles define us and shape us. What's life without a little fight? I'm sure your life will not turn out like this. Yeah, it will be difficult, but not constantly harsh. Life is worth living, no matter how hard.

I like the positive/negative sentences. It just reminds you that there's a flipside to happiness. Excellent way to present this letter.

That's cool, consider me jealous. I'm also 18 and I haven't done anything memorable yet.

I would suggest doing it. Life is short, take chances. Am I wrong?
