Don’t cry, Daddy is Here

Don’t cry, Daddy is Here

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

Don’t cry little darling daddy is here
Hanging by your side as you fall asleep.
Don’t cry little angel daddy loves you
As your mistakes he will always endear
And your laughter he will forever keep.
Don’t cry little baby daddy speaks true.
Although his life may be through
Daddy is still always with you.

This is sure to bring sympathy to the reader. Dreams are often a safety net for preserving the dead. It is almost like a surreal therapy session. Some might call it prayer, but I simply call it love. I like how the writer illustrated this from a child's voice.

Beautifully done, my friend. *hugs

whoa.....deep. i get the sense of a spirit visiting with his child and i am not laughing. my father often comes to me in my sleep and he has been dead for 7 years. we have conversations and it is so real as to make me sit up awake and still feel him in the room. this is powerful, Kenneth. well done!
