Buttons and Peaches

Buttons and Peaches

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

Exchanging endearing coos with my birds,

Each with their glorious array of feathers

And some attempting to articulate words;

All unbounded and lacking of tethers.

Buttons, the button thieving cockatoo,

Throws at me his charismatic gazes,

Whilst sister Peaches preens thorough and through;

Character and charm"I find"still amazes.

My flattery and coyness excites spite,

From life’s companion who is out of my sight.

one of my best friends is an avid bird lover...he has a parrot and several cockatiels....they have literally destroyed his dining room.....but he loves them to death....excellent tribute piece, love the last two lines about (i'm assuming) wifey
