The Bard

The Bard

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster

The Bard

For the songs of legend and songs of lore

I give upon you the courteous bard

To deliberate stories of the yore

And bring vocation from the avant-garde.

For a coin, his lute and voice will ring out

In harmony to play your melody

To please the patrons' ears without doubt

 Of brooding times reflected merrily.

Dashing is the wits and charms of the bard

Finding verse of knowledge in high regard.
