Obsessive Compulsive Anxiety Ridden Mess

Obsessive Compulsive Anxiety Ridden Mess

A Poem by Kenneth Stephen Goodpaster
"

For my mother

"

How so many times have I awoken each morning without dying in my sleep
Yet, it's confusing and devastating that these morbid anxieties I keep
A sudden creaking of a wooden board can scare me into a state of coma
Or a little mole can be convinced as a malignant form of melanoma.

A twenty minute trip feels like a four hour trip if there are bridges to cross
And I always panic if I have forgotten to throw away my old piece of floss.
I know that I will always obsess if I feel the compulsion is ignored
And that my sanity will always be lost until order has been restored.
