Illuminating

I don’t want you to die over something that I said,

Sitting there staring at you in my bed,

The pain and the trance that masked the truth,

Hiding your innocence, corrupting our youth,

And waiting and praying that we will survive,

While knowing and growing, the death of our lives,

As darkness fell the shells began calling,

Our hearts to the gallows, the bombs began falling,

While there, we shattered, our souls opened wide,

And kissed us goodbye, the truth couldn’t hide.

Wow, this is very sad. It makes me think of war and lost children. Short, but entrancing. Very good job. :)
