First to Talk, Last to Leave

First to Talk, Last to Leave

A Poem by jcarlson33
"

Lyrics I wrote to a new song of mine today. Will include link when it is finished; interesting ideas here though.

"
And here I am,
Preaching to my friends.
It's a trap I always love -
To fall back in.

It's another day.
Let's take a walk and think.
We've got a plan -
A scheme we've yet to see.

The truth is we're rejected.
God's children on trial for all time.
Selfish, disconnected,
Hardly a case and point.
Feeling blue and restless in my mind.

And here I am,
Preaching to my friends.
It's a trap I always love -
To fall back in.

Could this be mere projection?
Is it my own bleak reflection?
Anxiety and lack of attention.
Much the same in my generation.
I hope we're looking for a world beyond it.

And here I am,
Preaching to my friends.
It's a trap I always love -
To fall back in.

It's another day.
Let's take a walk and think.
We've got a plan -
A scheme we've yet to see.

I've got a plan
I've got a scheme I've yet to see.
