The Metal Monster

The Metal Monster

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee
"

A poem I wrote way back when C B's were the popular things.

"

There you sit on your throne,

With your headphones on,

Your septer held tight in your hand.

And you talk to the folks,

Drink coffee, tell jokes,

To your subjects on your citizen band.

It's five in the morning,

I'm sitting here yawning,

Your septer's still glued to your hand.

The alarm clock is ringing,

You're still there singing,

Glued to your wonderful citizen band.

You talk to and tease,

And feel that you please,

All the ladies in radio land.

While I sit here lonely,

Thinking of you only,

How I hate that damn citizen band.

That Metal Monster

Took you away from me,

For how can a woman,

Compete with a C.B.

It doesn't have arms to hold you,

Yet, you hold it tight.

It isn't warm and gentle,

Yet, you're here with it every night.

That Metal Monster,

Has taken my man.

Oh, how I hate that

Damn Citizen Band.

HA!!! I can relate to this...It's worse today!! There are more 'metal monsters' than you can poke a stick at! Particularly 'the TV remote!' It's like an extra appendage for the male species. I like this very much, it's a well-written piece that would benefit greatly from separation into stanzas...just a thought, nice to give your reader room to breathe...

LoL. Sometimes I feel this way about Everquest...the nights I don't want to play all night and he does...

Clever piece, and though the CB craze may have died down a bit, it is still timely for today. :) Well done!

Aw. I can imagine it like what a cell phone is today, sometimes it's like he needs that more than me, it's awful! I can totally relate. Great job with this. Even though it was written a while ago everyone can still relate!

Just awesome! How sad though, that those types of things happen. But nowadays, I guess it would truly be the computer that has everyone entranced. Another great write, thanks so much for sharing.
