You're The One ( Who's On My Mind )

You're The One ( Who's On My Mind )

A Poem by Norma J. Jessee
"

Nothing personal, Just lyrics I wrote

"

He's the one who holds  me gently,

When we're alone at night.

He's right there when I need him

To make sure I'm all right.

He's the one who understands me,

When I've been unkind.

He's the one I'm holding now,

But you're the one who's on my mind

(chorus)

You're the one who's on my mind,

The one I want to hold.

You're the one who keeps me going,

The fire that's in my soul.

He's the one who's here with me,

You're the dream I'll never find.

He's the one who really loves me,

But you're the one who's on my mind.

He's the one who stands by me,

When everything goes wrong.

He's the one who keeps me laughing,

The music in my song.

He's the one I can depend on,

Anywhere and anytime.

He's the one I'm married to,

But, you're the one who's on my mind.

This is an incredible piece! The wonderful thing about this poem is it could mean something different for everyone. I am not a big poetry person, but this is a wonderful work of art. I love the form of the poem itself, and it flows very nicely. Great job! I hope to read more like this!

Wow, to me it seems to be about a torn love... tearing in two over both, a husband and a lover. The torn person seems to be okay, but at the same time so filled with regret. Another wonderful write.

By the end of this I had a strange feeling of sorrow, not too much to cry, but enough for a large sigh to erupt from my throat.

This was great, I really enjoyed it, especially the line "You're the dream I'll never find."

Wow, that's so open-ended it could really apply to many situations. I can honestly say I've been able to relate to those words in my lifetime. I love the line, "he's the one who keeps me laughing, the music in my song." What a wonderful compliment to bestow upon someone. I stoked my curiousity to know who inspired it. ;o)
