Why We Break

Why We Break

A Poem by Jeannie
"

I wrote this about 3 years ago. I was very angsty at this point

"
Truth is, we are all broken
We are all in pieces at some point
We've all been there
And sure, we may have gotten back up
But it doesn't change the fact that
We will never be full, whole, or fixed
If we were, we would be closer to perfection
A trait that no one has ever truly been
Maybe, that's why we all break
And since we are all broken
We're meant to find other people, other broken pieces
And with them, pull through this maze of life
We would never be able to make it alone
I believe, that is why we have love
And me,
I'll love every single broken piece of you
Maybe you can find somewhere in your broken heart to do the sane
Two negatives equal a positive
So our broken pieces can come together...
We can be broken together

Honestly, I think this is beautiful. It didn't need to rhyme. It captures the heart with honesty, realness. It's true. We've all felt broken at least once, been broken. I think my favorite part is the end where you come out reaching towards someone as if saying its okay to be that way and that you'd love them anyways. The structure is easy to follow and it flows quite nicely. Very good job :)
