Can I write you?

Can I slip into your eyes

in search of words to describe?

 

May I move as a soft caress

upon your skin,

so as to fill my pages?

 

Can I bathe in

the beauty of your trance,

gathering words of poetry?

 

May I capture your glow,

your warmth, your smile…

your memory?

 

For life has been upon me such,

that I know

I cannot long hold you,

for an angel never could be held.

 

But if you will,

might I hold you dear, forever

upon the weathered linen pages

of my mind.
