Upon the shoreline

Upon the shoreline

A Poem by jeffburton
"

A sonnet

"

I stand upon the shoreline

Of an ancient, fragrant sea

Straining hard to find a welcome sign

Of whatever waits for me,

To catch a glimpse of other friends

Who have left this sod before

A message that the future sends

To those upon the shore,

But though I stare with fevered gaze

Seeking structure out of mist

As daylight dims its last few rays

No vision will persist

And I must turn from darkened strand

To enjoy fair breezes of the land
