You Came, Saw and Conquered

A love poem

 

YOU CAME, SAW AND CONQUERED

 

You came, you saw, you conquered

A single look just seared my heart

And from then until eternity

I knew we would never part.

 

Time stood still when you held me

A willing captive to your charms

Our first kiss a thunder burst

Of rapture, in your arms.

 

The heavenly touch of your embrace

More precious than diamonds and gold

And if you were not beside me

My world would be bleak and cold

 

You are my Angel, here on Earth

Sent to me from Heaven above

This life of ours, to have and hold

And for ever more to love

I'm a big roll over when it comes to poems about falling in love, especially the absolute undeniable true love. From a format point of view, I wonder if you ever thought about taking it from a two stanza format and breaking it into four? Having that line break between rythme schemes always just seems to make work flow a little nicer, at least in my opinion.

I think it's perfect ... like a surrendering of vows to love eternal. My favourite two lines:- "Our first kiss a thunder burst Of rapture, in your arms." ... rapture is such a sumptuous word. Best wishes, Bethlynne.
