A Sad Worm

A Sad Worm

A Poem by jen -- JG

A SAD WORM.

You say you love me, I have nothing to fear

Then you whisper sweet nothings into my ear;

But I hear her laugh as you hang up the phone

And salty tears burn, while I wait all alone.

You tell me be patient, in you I must trust

But you’re eager and willing and driven by lust.

"Spice" is the spark that makes you burn bright

but I see you fade in dawn’s early light.

I wait alone while you’re out on the town

Being alone and so lonely is getting me down.

It’s no longer a secret, for bright lights you yearn

And you leave me waiting, while salty tears burn.

Yes, you leave me alone, while salty tears burn

But, maybe one day this sad worm will turn

Then you’ll be the lonely, and salty eyed one

And I’ll be the one…who is out …having fun.
