acrose a great expanse

acrose a great expanse

A Poem by jmrs929

across a great expanse
you drift so gracefully
gently mocking me
with your infinite beauty
and ominous vastness
you blanket my life
sometimes dark
sometimes light
and when you disappear
i am ever confident
of your faithful return
i used to resent you
yet i cannot anymore
for you have become my definition
my one constant
in an ever-changing world
one day i may be free of you
and to this end i only dream
that the warmth of the sun
actually warm my face
while i sit pillowed in you
content
not hidden in your shadows
until then i remain with you
my days falling away like leaves
for we are one in the same
