daddy's girl

daddy's girl

A Poem by she makes me weird

the reoccuring need for a fundamental love once provided by you

a quick blink of my eyes would prove to be mistake

leaving no trace of the familiar path you once carried me down

she smiles to the world, secretely drowning in her tears

acquiring the bitter taste of abandonement

learning to trust the fear

finding stability in the instability of her life

she despises the truth of not being good enough

failing at her attempt to be strong

she crumbles at the sound of his voice

a vulnerable child at the fate of daddy's decisions

once again hating herself for being ignorant

a naive little girl eternally dies

only alive to feel the pain of it all

yet dead to life once held so precious

This poem is just absolutely fantastic. I know someone like this. She grew up without her father's approval feeling the betrayal, "acquiring the bitter taste of abandonment." SO poignant and powerful. She does, indeed "crumble at the sound of her father's voice." This is very, very personal and so empathetically written. I love it. I'll be adding this to my favorites and I'll share it with my friend... when I feel she can handle such a powerful piece. Excellent work.

finding stability in the instability of her life - great line!
Very nicely written, although very poignantly so! Almost bittersweet, eh? Good job!
