Ghost Love (a poem for Jerrod)

Ghost Love (a poem for Jerrod)

A Poem by Jennie Love

I am a ghost.
That chill up your spine.

A glimpse of me,
out of the corner of your squinting eye,
of me "back then".

this is now.

So all you can do is
close your lids and concentrate
hard
on my vision.

Lover,
past memories are all you possess of me now.

You will never again,
reach out and squeeze my thigh,
awake to my smile,
hear my laughter,
kiss my lips.

I will never again,
warm you when your cold,
lay by your side,
fix your iced tea,
hold your heart so close.

For now we are over.
Before we began.

goodbye my love.

I am gone.

ghost.
