Family Traits

A Poem by Jennie's Shoes

I have my father’s eyes

And my mother’s temper

My father’s naiveté

And my mother’s a*s

My father gave me the ability to love with reserve

My mother gave me the wisdom to see a lie

My father taught me to care deeply about him

My mother taught me to fear her death

My father showed me how to live a life of fear

My mother showed me to live a life without fear

My father gave me many reasons not to love him

My mother gave me no reason not to love him

My father made me

My mother nurtured me

My father loves me

My mother loves me

My father is becoming my new best friend

My best friend, my mother, is losing her battle

Soon all I’ll have is my father

He’ll have to learn to be my mother

My father is my heart

My mother is my soul

Without either I am not whole

About
I've been a singer for years and I've been writing since I was a little girl. I've written a lot of things I hoped would be songs which have remained just poems. I like to write short stories also and.. more..
