Listen

A Poem by JennyNicole
"

The sounds of war

"

Listen

Listen to the hooves of the galloping horsemen as they shake the ground beneath.

When the vibrations are not just vibrations but a song not quite in tune.

And dust clouds our vision and basks us in grey suits of armor.

Listen

Listen to the heartbeat of the world as the wind soars past your ears

There is something to be heard in gusts and barrels

Where the truth never hides and the secrets come forth in troves

Listen

Listen to the cry of battle storm gallantly from his blood stained face

The swing of the blade barely tears a shred of camouflage

When the red rain falls it forms a never ending  flood of victory.

Listen

Listen to the sobs of the women and children at his feet.

Tears drench the sopping dirt with emotions unknown until now.

Where fireballs explode in the distance and create a beautiful masterpiece

Listen

Listen to the silence as it surrounds your body in warmth and comfort

Where there is silence there is peace, or agony for those who have lost.

We, the living, grieve the sounds of triumph in our cold lifeless fingers.

Its like some dark ode to battle's lost lament....I love it. Your word choice is characteristically paramount and profoundly defines the piece, I easily see this as an introduction to a novel...
