One Summer Night

One Summer Night

A Story by zoe luman
"

A moment in time shared, but not forgotten.

"

It was still very hot on that late summer night where we lived

on Hollywood Drive.

My little girl and I sat and watched the stars and the moon on

our tiny screened porch. We took turns pointing at our chosen

stars above, so bright against the deep dark sky. We made wishes

on them, both small and big, and with great thought.

I can still feel the comfort we both felt of being together,

with the smell of the night's air along with the clear starlit sky that

kept us content.

As I looked at her sweet baby face searching the sky and listening

to her wish aloud, I saw this gleam in her curious big brown eyes.

Possibly, her wondering just how big the world might really be.
