Shoes

Shoes

A Poem by jennpenn
"

A poem about what you are dealt in life, and dealing with it.

"

The problem with my problem is

That I don’t know what it is

The problem that’s my problem

It’s inconsolably plain

The questions to my answers

Are slightly the wrong size

Is there even a reason why

I'm stumbling through life

The differences in shoe sizes

Has left a gaping hole

When I walk off kilter

I stumble and repeat

And stare at all the others

Who have the perfect feet.

I could tie one shoe real tight

And hope that they don’t see.

Teach myself to cope

And fall down clumsily

Or should I buy a size too small?

And try to hide my pain

Does the pinching of my skin

Have anything to gain

I found another with my problem!

And it hadn't occurred to me

To get two different sizes

And just walk comfortably.

I left the break after "gaping hole" on purpose.

I think I see what you're getting at. For a long time I was on a career path that didn't make me happy. I was trying to fill shoes that weren't intended for me. I got depressed and, like you said, I just tightened the laces and tries to hide it. Overall I enjoyed the poem - I really like the first stanza.
