My World

My World

A Poem by Jenny Leigh
"

A poem about love

"
You lay asleep, eyes closed tight.
I watch you peaceful in the moonlight.
I gently brush back your hair.
You are dreaming. Am I there?

When you're awake, I hold you near.
You hold my hand, I call you "Dear."
When we're apart, I feel so cold.
You'll return, I don't have to be told.

I kiss your face, and hug you close.
You make me laugh, I tickle your toes.
Your laugh, your smile, they brighten my day.
My love for you grows in every way.

I pick you up out of your crib.
Ready for breakfast? Don't forget your bib.
Since you were born, life's been a swirl.
Everyone calls you my baby, I call you my world.

What a pleasantly surprising end! Wow, I was not expecting that at all and I applaud you for surprising me like that. I was honestly picturing a grown woman, his lover, as I was reading.
Beautiful poem that put a smile on my face. Thank you for that. It's needed sometimes in this day and age.
Please continue to brighten other's days with your writing.
