Raging Night

Raging Night

A Poem by scratchingthesurface

Raging waters running deep,

Silent souls traveling neath

Ever entranced in troubled sleep

While above shimmering light

Sparkles on the surface bright

Concealing below the pitiful plight

Of those who lost the will to fight

Ever encroaching merciless night

A pit formed from lack of sight

Finding instead small respite

Engaging every small delight

That approaches their conscience light

Until from misery alight

Could not accomplish with all their might

When I just read this, it made me think about the project that my kids were doing last month, all about the Titanic... Excellent work, keep it up ;)

What a flow you found here it was wonderful to read it carries your smoothly to the end. The rhyme scheme is done with such delight. I have not seen this in a long while and I very much appreciated the structured.

So well expressed. The ins and outs of deamland can become a convoluted path upon which we travel instead of the respite it is meant to be. I am SO enjoying your writing!
