right where you left it

right where you left it

A Poem by ms. understood

a year of drunken love in my eyes
were quick flutters of joy in his
when i jumped into your arms
you fell ten steps back
into an abyss where i couldn't grasp your hand
because you wouldn't allow me the pleasure
and now i am left with fleeting memories
full of sleepless nights and insomnia
fear and loathing
that shackle me to your denying heart
and when i grew weak
you took your strength to move on
without an escape plan
and i'm stuck here
alone
exhausted
anxious
out of breath
why was the intention to always leave?
when you could have stayed and enjoyed my peace.
our peace.

(why was the intention to always leave? when you could have stayed and enjoyed my peace. our peace.) How sad and far too common among lovers today. Well written. ~Sharon

This is stunning. Probably all of us can relate to this horrific pain. Beautifully written about that agony.

i relate to this as i was with someone once who tried to love, but had a scorched heart from the past and always had one foot in and one foot out the door.
we are still close and she has often told me that she should have stayed married to me...but had too much pent up anger back then...and I was the closest to her...thus...since she couldn't find peace...we couldn't .
really good write, and love the ending.
