The Prey

The Prey

A Poem by Jessica Ryan

Take my hand, and drag me into this place
This place of love, emotion and grace
Take me so high that if I look down theres nothing to see
Then drop me like a bird, with broken wings
When youve been up there and understand how it feels
Being dropped back down is an emotion so unreal

So take me there and never let me go
If you do, I can never let my trust show
For people like you hurt and the pain is so real
So please, I ask if you need to bring me up,
Please let me down gently so that I can still feel

Some think feelings are bad and shouldn't be a thing
I say lets go for the ride, and I spread my wings
Nonetheless being vulnerable like a mouse in a cage
Hoping that one day I wont find out all along you've been the snake
and I've been the prey
