Finding a Lost Friend

Finding a Lost Friend

A Poem by Jessica Wood

Finding a Lost Friend

if I had the chance to grab you at my first breath I would

but I search for you with a determined demeanor

never being able to truly find the answer I want

you provide the foundation for this place we call life

and without the few that have found you

our existence would turn in to oblivion.

wisdom is a friend of few and wanted by so many

he rarely shows his face and keeps to himself

but the ones who deem themselves worthy

get to spread their new found knowledge with their peers

the few that bask in his glory are the founders

knowing what needs to be accomplished

or knowing the times when giving up is the only option.

wisdom is not someone,

not a person to worship

but he is something to believe in.
