She cries.

Rivulets of misspent youth

and misplaced love

flow.

Tears sting

her cheeks, her heart

expelling the poison of

‘alone'.

She breathes,

slowly, deeply

inhaling and exhaling

the thickness of memory.

Absorbing the bitter darts

of frigid tongues

unhappy in their marriage beds.
