Quite Often

Quite Often

A Poem by Jay M. Jones

I won't lie..this is inspired by one of my favorite writers...Charles Bukowski.

Quite Often

Quite Often, I sit and take a cold hard look at myself, from the outside..
and wonder if i am truly worth anything at all.
Through the eyes of others, you can gauge your own worth..
should you be so inclined to validate yourself
by what THEY think, or say.

Quite often, I might sit patient, and still, waiting for the anvil,
or the other shoe to drop, in this grand opera of bullshit
i find myself a little cynical, and maby i pray for that
anvil...or that grand piano to squash me from on high.

Quite often, someone might be so kind as to say a kind word or two to me,
and at that moment, I might be so inclined to either disagree with it,
or curtsy, like a school girl at such a gracious comment.
As though i do not know my own worth..and they have
given me the most precious gift imaginable.
A great f**k that lasts ten seconds.  I climax, and it's over.

And quite often,
i do not think of such bullshit.
