The House

By: JB Murray © June 2010

A young boy growing

On unsteady feet

Stumbling towards destiny

On short little legs

Dizzy and tired

From long walks in the yard

Breath catching suddenly

Then laughter ensues

A smile from my mother

A knowingly glance

A shake of her head

She’s laughing as well

She advances swiftly

Long youthful strides

She inspires and coaxes

Learns me to stand

A young growing boy

With unsteady dreams

Like those that she vanquished

Without little thought

A strong loving hand

No excuses to make

Only the truths

That life has to offer

This is the house that built me
