Smaller Pieces

Smaller Pieces

A Poem by Gull

4.

She threw her empty bottle of beer
to hear it smash off the rocks and
just off the shore an abandoned
building stood with no intention
and we sat on a piece of that building
which made a wonderful seat and had
a perfect view of the sunset
pine trees like guardians surrounding
us and my bottle I decided not to
break and left it sitting on the concrete
knowing the tide was coming in
knowing there was nothing I could do.
