Talking

Talking

A Poem by Jim Hahn

Talking with her is
Like unpacking a verbal picnic
Does it look like rain today
What's in the basket
Who knows
It doesn't really matter
My mouth waters for
Just a few words
With her

Talking with her is
Like walking a verbal labyrinth
Where will this take us
How will we escape
Who knows
It doesn't really matter
My mind's happy to get
Just a little lost
With her

Talking with her is
Like screening a silent classic
What's the film's plot
What's the actor's name
Who knows
It doesn't really matter
My ears need no information
My eyes need no sound
It's the image that enthralls
It's her face that fascinates
My heart warms whenever I am
Just talking
Just being
With her
