If Only

 

If Only Often times I feel that, if only I were there, It would make it so much easier, to show someone I care, No matter if they were hurting, or happy just the same, I wish that I could tell them that they're more than just a name, To ease the pain of losing a friend, or just be there to listen, To be there if they had to cry, and wipe a tear that glistens, I'd want to reach my arms out far, hold them near and say, You'll always be close to my heart, each and every day, The distance makes it sad sometimes, to do just what we feel, Wanting so much to actually see, this person we know to be real, Words are comforting at certain times, to me they mean so much, Nothing can ever replace the warmth, or the softness of ones touch, So when these words come forth from me, its not the same old speech, I'd love to be there holding you, if only my arms could reach......
