Triton Tale

Triton Tale

A Poem by jinjahman
"

an imagined and abstract story of the mythological kind. Triton (Τρίτων, gen: Τρίτωνος) is a mythological Greek god, the messenger of the sea. He is the son of Poseidon, god of the sea, and Amphitrite

"

The pressure cave
Watched Poseidon
His watery grave
Towered by Triton

Ink hewn seaweed
Quill scratched tale
Parchment pulsing creed
Penned of mermaid slender scale

Quick writ down lore
That soon will falter
Merman's rightful crown
On Aegaen sea's altar

Pallas slain so sudden
Athena: murderess
Perhaps this the reason
For Conch its sound of stress

Blossom pearl in cochlea's phoenix
Canal heard by shrill-shell fear
Poles protrude sea to transfix
Basalt cooked skin oil tender

A wonderful tribute to Greek mythology. The last stanza, for me, is particularly beautiful.
