the change of time

the change of time

A Poem by james l navas

The engine roars
the stallion rears,
lights grow dimmer
candles hypnotic shimmer,
wandering footsteps thud
footsteps thud - the only similarity.

Trains shunt
oxen grunt,
machine guns chatter
swords clink and clatter,
people aimlessly trudge
people trudge - the only familiarity.

society led by the sport player
society follows as the priests leads prayer,
rifles unto flesh, rip,
guardsmen, burning oil, tip,
brutal ignorance prevails
ignorance prevails - an eternal similarity
