ME

ME

A Poem by Thomas Sawyer

I’m  the highest, the greatest, the best!

The sun looks to me to shine,

The oceans cringe when I stand

I am

None else is

Me!

I’m not God,

Who cares, the universe bows to me.

The universe?

That’s me!

Alone I stand, alone I conquer, alone!

Me!

Six feet looks deep,

I moved this earth, now I lay in the earth’s belly.

Alone!

Weak!

Nothing!

Me!

"I am

None else is

Me!" -- That's so uplifiting! You poem really touched me and made me smile. It's not arrogance when we put ourselves up. People understand perfectly a piece (like many of mine) who talks about frustration and self-disgust, but self-value seems to be a higher taboo! And it shouldn't! Great poem!
