This Note Nailed On The Rusted Door

This Note Nailed On The Rusted Door

A Poem by Jonathan Taylor

This note nailed on the rusted door,

Speaking volumes in sticky note,

You left this day for so much more,

All I have to remember is what you wrote.

Words like echoes ricocheting through time,

A voice in the wind carries words spoken in haste,

You travel in search of a sign,

All I have is memory’s taste.

Through forests and nature rhyme,

The rhythm will betray our art,

You said it would all be fine,

A note left before you depart.

Read and reread this inscription,

A testament to your heart and soul,

            You seek a sure-fire fiction,

Dreams chased to make you whole.
