The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by JD Sutter

The waves vehemently beat 'gainst my vessel
The windy gales with the sails do wrestle
The lightning knifes across the sky
The thunderclaps, how they terrify

My ship begins to fill with the waves
I'm losing faith, though I try to be brave
I'm going to sink; going to go down
It seems as though I'm going to drown

Then amidst the bellowing noise
I hear a forceful commanding voice
With simply three words spoken
The power of the storm is broken

The sea returns to steady ebb and flow
The howling winds suddenly cease to blow
The lightning and thunder instantly desist
Against the Creator's word they cannot resist

Just when I believed that I would be dead
"Peace, be still," is all that He said
He intervened and I came to no harm
For surely He is the Master of the storm

I enjoyed the imagery you have going on here.
I could picture this quite well.
Nice job.
